Gabriel Tamas I followed Dan Capp's work for a while now, and at some point in time I found out about this project. I really don't understand why is it so neglected. The sound is raw and original at the same time, with a touch of the 90's sound, but modern nevertheless. I was amazed that the tape re-release is still not sold out, after almost two years after it's release. I am glad that I got to buy it at long last, but sad that not many people know about it. It doesn't even has a Discogs entry, unfortunately Favorite track: Into the Blazing Abyss.

Ädäm This is without doubt an overlooked gem! These recordings stick out with really great "stampede" riffs. Thanks a lot to Ulthar Records for this anew release! Highly recommended! Favorite track: Wrath of the Wild.

about

Originally released in 2008, 'The Piper' was poorly distributed yet well-received among the darkest corners of the Black Metal listenership. This 7-track folk tale of a piper neglected and raised by a community of seemingly 'civilised' people, corrupted and weakened by their cultural Christianity. The Piper rejects them as they rejected him, but not before taking their children out of the 'light' and into the darkness.

Consisting of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Dan Capp (Winterfylleth) and drummer Mark Capp, SPEIRLING are now defunct but their memory lives on in the form of 'The Piper' – remastered with new artwork to pay homage to an overlooked gem.
